The upstairs full-length balcony over the terrace is accessible also through sliding folding doors or french doors to all three bedrooms, and since it faces the swimming pool and the bay the aspect from the terrace and balcony is indeed a beautiful one.
The construction of the building is reinforced concrete frame-work panelled in brick. The intermediary floors are solid concrete beams and slabs, but the roof slab is of hollow tile waterproofed with asphalt membrane with a final layer cf canton tiles.
The exterior of the walls are surfaced with artificial stone plaster carefully tooled and jointed to simulate stone block.
The double main entrance door is of 2′′ solid teak, all other wooden doors to the main building being the solid core flush type with teak facing as manufactured by Woodcraft of Shanghai.
The main staircase is panelled with Insulux glass blocks.
The manner in which the Architects have utilised the different levels of the site is illustrated by the position and design of the two-storied garage, which has been so placed as to provide access for cars from the steeply sloping approach road to the upper floor of the garage and a changing room and covered terrace in the lower floor, at the level of the swimming pool.
The swimming pool itself is 33'6" (10 metres) long and 13′3′′ wide. The tiled terrace which surrounds the pool is an unusually roomy one for so small an area, and this has been made possible by curving and projecting the front portion over the steep slope leading down to the shore of the bay. Concrete steps lead down to the beach below, providing access for sea-bathing.
The Architect's sketch of the project and the plan illustrate more clearly than words the originality of design and arrangement of this modest home, and we feel sure that when completed it will be a very outstanding example of a medium-sized residence.
Engineering Service contracted for the entire electrical installation in concealed conduits and for the very modern plumbing installation. The luxurious master bathroom will feature entire walls of black glass, with full length mirrors from floor to the ceiling. It will include two lavatories and a special dental lavatory, in all, six fixtures to one bathroom.
