HUNG HOM BUILDING CAN BE CAR PARK OR FACTORIES

ORK is well under way on Hong Kong's biggest private car park - in Ma Tau Wei Road, Hung Hom (K.I.L. 6020).

The 11 storey, reinforced concrete building, owned by the Green Island Cement Company, will be able to accomodate nearly 1.000 vehicles on its upper 10 floors.

However, the building's function will be flexible.

The building was originally de- signed to accomodate flatted fac tories. but because of the develop ing nature of the area. it did not appear that there would be sufficient to fill it immediately on completion.

It was decided to attach a car ramp to the building and use most

floors for car parks. However. floor space can be quickly partitioned for large or small factories as the need arises.

All floors will be served by 14 ft. wide ramps. one up and one down. which have been designed in such a way so as to eliminate cross traffic.

The ramps will be an unheard of boon for flatted factories in the build- ing enabling quick and easy access by truck or car. In addition there will also be two cargo lifts, a passen- ger lift and a car lift big enough to accomodate

even the biggest of

American sedans.

The four lightwells in the building also express its dual purpose. All carry the necessary plumbing for the
