circulated by means of a centrifugal pump from a reser- voir in the base. The "Aquamiser" has its own fan section above the water sprays which drives air over the reservoir, through the condenser coils and water spray, and discharges outside the building.

The Westinghouse Air-conditioning Unit employed consists of three sections. The first is the filter section in

which returned air is cleaned and mixed with fresh air drawn through a special duct from the outside atmosphere.

The clean air then passes into the second section contain- ing the Evaporator Coil where it is cooled and dehumidi- fied. The conditioned air then passes into the fan section driven by a Westinghouse 22H.p. Motor whence it is discharged into the air ducts at the correct velocity to assure even distribution. The air-conditioning fan is of a slow speed type with two large rotors, capable of delivering 6,000 cubic ft. of air per minute against a total resistance 1" static pressure.

Another interesting feature of this installation is the automatic starting devise for the 20 H.p. motor where- by its starting current is limited to meet the supply companies requirements. In addition the automatic over- load protection, which is standard in all Westinghouse Motor-Starting Equipment, the Compressor is provided with automatic protection against overload through high refrigerant pressure, and also against too low a suction

pressure.

The whole of the equipment was supplied by the Westinghouse Electrical International Co. and the instal-
