As the quantity of conditioned air brought into the Café is very considerably in excess of that returned, allowances have been made for air to be exhausted at several points, in order to carry away any smoke that may collect.

The following drawing gives the layout of the Air-conditioning Equipment and Ducts, and is an interesting example of how existing premises may be adapted for air-conditioning without considerable structural alterations.

The heart of the Refrigerating Equipment is the Westinghouse seal-less type C. L. S. 6 cylinder Compressor which, with its 20 H.p. Westinghouse Induction Motor, is hermetically sealed into a single unit having no moving parts visible and being automatically lubricated. This compressor unit has a number of important features which are exclusive to Westinghouse seal-less compressors and which conform with the most advanced practice of air-conditioning, the most ingenious of these features being the Freon Refrigerant cooled Motor whereby the refrigerant leaving the cooling coils passes through the motor, and whilst cooling the motor, the refrigerant is super-heated thereby greatly increasing the capacity of the compressor. Other most important features of this compres- sor are its silence of operation, its perfect balance eliminating all vibrating, and its exhaust muffler which eliminates discharged gas noises.

Owing to the difficulty in obtaining large quantities of condensed water, the usual water cooled Condenser is replaced in this installation by a Westinghouse "AQUAMISER," an im- proved and most efficient type of Evaporator Condenser.
