four large rectangular blocks joined together to form one enormous block, but a feature of the estate will be two twin circular towers, whose large external window area will provide excellent light and cross-ventilation for the occupants.

Each circular tower will have a large open well in the centre and will be linked to its twin by com- mon vertical circulation facilities. The twin towers are designed as an economical solution to cope with the steep gradient of the site.

The estate will contain 2,683 dwellings in blocks of 27 to 28 storeys. The majority of these are for families of five to seven persons, based on a stan- dard of 35 sq. ft. per person, but provison is also made for smaller and larger families. All units are self-contained and have their own kitchens, w.c.'s and balconies.

The rectangular blocks will include 16 shops, 32 hawker stalls, an estate office, a clinic, kinder- garten and, at roof level, a community centre and play areas. Play areas inside the buildings will cover 77,000 sq. ft. and open recreation areas, 97,000 sq. ft. Parking spaces will be provided for more than 200 cars.

Formation work on the 275,000 sq. ft. site will begin in June.

Wong Cho Tong and Clifford C.F. Wong are the architects for the project. The quantity surveyors are Langdon Every and Seah.
