The unveiling, on the 9th January 1957, by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Alexander Grantham, of a memorative plaque in the entrance lobby of the new Colonial Secretariat Building, the second stage of the construction of the Central Govern- ment Offices on Lower Albert Road, marked another milestone towards the completion of the project which was embarked upon in 1951.

It runs at right angles to the first section, the East Wing, the two portions forming one Block, com- pletely interconnected.
