For the speedy handling of Sacks, Bales, Cases or Crates, a G.E.C. 21-cwt. Double-Rope Hoist will reduce time and costs, since the double-ended hoisting rope with a hook at each end enables loading and unloading of the hoist to be carried out simultaneously.
There is no standing about waiting for the hook to return, for while the loaded hook is being hoisted or lowered, at a rate of 80 feet per minute, the free hook is returning to pick up the next load at the same speed.
Two hoisting drums, each with three machine cut grooves are provided, which makes it possible to arrange a positive lift through almost any height, without fear of slip or binding, by the use of hoisting ropes of various lengths; the standard rope being suitable for a 30-ft. lift.
Machine cut gears of high tensile steel are contained in a gear box located behind the drum compartment.

Limit Switches are contained in enclosed box at the bottom of the drum
compartment, and it is impossible for foreign matter to interfere with the efficient working of the switches.
The brake has large friction surfaces and is held in the OFF position electrically so that in the event of a current failure there is no fear of the load running away, as the brake is automatically applied by the heavy-duty compression spring.
Only one hand is needed to control the hoist, leaving the other free to swing or guide the load. The controller, which is a small two- button push, can be held with equal comfort in the right or left hand,
There is no fear of damaging the hoist by overrunning, as before any damage can occur, a limit switch will cut off the supply of current to the motor and brake.
All the automatic contactor gear and limit switches are built into the hoist, so that there are no complicated wiring connections to be made.
Included in the specification of the G.E.C. 21⁄2-cwt. Double- Rope Hoist are many features which are seldom combined in any other hoist of similar capacity and price. Twelve of these listed below.
