Welfare centre to serve resettlement estate

The first of six resettlement estate welfare cen- tres planned by Hong Kong Government has been completed at the Ham Tin resettlement estate.

recreation rooms, a 200-capacity assembly hall, clinics, library, nursery and offices for voluntary agencies.

Five other centres are now under construction: one each at Shek Lai, Tsz Wan Shan and Ngau Tau Kok resettlement estates, and two in Sau Mau Ping.

Malaysia chancery buildings programme

The Malaysian Government has approved a M$3 million programme for new chancery buildings in Washington, Tokyo, New Delhi and Singapore.

In addition the chancery offices in Djakarta and

Canberra will be repaired and extended.

Of the total sum about M$850,000 will be spent on the new building in Washington and about M$750,000 on the chancery in New Delhi, a new residence for the High Commissioner and staff quarters.

British engineering exhibitions planned

British engineering weeks in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are being planned by the London Cham- ber of Commerce in conjunction with the Board of Trade.

The Kuala Lumpur exhibition will run from September 8 to 12 and Singapore from September 16 to 20. Both will feature new plant and equip- ment for engineering and building. In Kuala Lumpur there will be particular emphasis on equipment for highway and traffic engineering.
