flats in the fore- ground.

Left) Typical floor plan of apartment building.

As mentioned before, the external appearance of the blocks of flats have been built to harmonize with the Administration Building, the whole group forming a very pleasant addition to an already pleasant neighbourhood.

The passenger lift in the office building, which was supplied and installed by Jardine Engineering Corpn.. Ltd. is of the full-automatic push-button control type, self-levelling at landings. The electrical installation by the same firm included all wiring in C.T.S. Cable in gal- vanized screwed steel conduit for lighting, bells, clocks, telephones and power. In the office block a floor grid system with bronze outlet boxes was supplied which enabled telephone and bell connections to be provided to desks in any position while avoiding unsightly external

wiring. In addition, synchronous clocks were provided throughout the building, including three 8′0′′ diameter clocks in the tower.

The Architects for the project are Messrs. Davies, Brooke & Gran. The Hong Kong Engineering & Con- struction Co. in addition to doing the general contracting work also did the piling work with “Franki" piles, and the structural engineering and plumbing work; Cathay Ceramics (H.K.) Ltd. supplied all the exterior facing tiles and all the interior glazed and mosaic tiles; Jardine Engineering Corp., Ltd. in addition to the electrical work supplied all the steel windows; and Malcolm & Co., Ltd. supplied and laid the Briggs' roofing materials.
