Owing to the terrific wind pressure experienced in Hong Kong during typhoons, both architects and owners here favour the flat type of roof for practically all types of buildings. A sloping coloured tile roof so frequently met with in other parts of the world is in the nature of a rarity in this Colony.

The building illustrated on this page from the architects' drawings is a two- storey private residence erected on R.B.L.51 on Pokfulam Road. These illustrations, unfortunately, cannot

convey a proper conception of the attractive appearance of this house.

An unusual feature of the house, as will be seen from the floor plans, is that half of the ground floor area has been set aside as a library with a reception parlour leading off the hall, while the dining room is situated on the first floor together with the two bedrooms and bath- room between.

The Architects are Messrs. Credit Foncier d'Extreme-Orient.
