YORK began last month on an al

ternative road link between the mid-level area and the Central District of Hong Kong to relieve traffic congestion in Garden Road and in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Cricket Club.

At the same time, a pedestrian subway will be constructed under Albany Road opposite the entrance of the Botanic Gardens for use by visitors to the park.

New traffic lights will be installed at the Glenealy. Wyndham Street and Ice House Street junction and existing lights at the intersection of Queen's Road Central and Pedder Street will be modified to cater for traffic coming down Wyndham Street into Pedder Street.
