Main room in the west wing is the double height reading room with an area of 5,240 square feet, plus a fan room and lavatories.
Second and third floors are iden tical, each with 10.600 square feet given up to book stack and spaced for readers in open carrels, plus
lavatories, cleaners' closets, store rooms and fan rooms.
The whole of the building is air- conditioned. Summer conditions are based on outside temperatures of 92°F. dry bulb and 82°F. wet bulb with internal temperatures maintain- ed at 78°F. dry bulb and a relative Winter humidity of 55 per cent. conditions are based on an outside temperature of 40°F. with internal temperatures maintained at 70°F.
The fresh air requirements are based on 15 cubic feet of air per minute per person. Noise level of the air distribution system is design-
