Hong Kong Builder

MEGHING LOO
The cross section of the building shown at lower left illustrates the setting of the foundations of the building below Wyndham Street level.
How he solved the problem is illustrated in the typical
floor plan which we publish with this article. Judging
from the plan alone, the Architect seems to have taken
a rather involved way of solving the problem of public
circulation space and access to the various rooms, but
not having visited the building itself we are in no posi-
tion to judge whether this plan could be improved on.
The appearance of the building from the exteric
has received rather unusual treatment, being finished in
ceramic tiles and coloured cement plaster. The fact that
it does attract favourable attention in spite of its un-
fortunate position and angle to the street is of itself
sufficient testimony to its attractiveness of design.
The Architect was Mr. L. Biau, and the General
Contractors, Messrs. Sun Sang Co.
