From the main hall, there will be a staircase leading to the quarters on the upper floors: however, to avoid the necessity of the residents from having to go
go through the casualty department, an external door opens directly onto the ground floor landing of this staircase.
Accommodation to be provided on the first floor includes a living room. reading room and study room, along the front of which three rooms there is a verandah: a dining room with kitchen adjoining. furniture store. lavatories, and servants' rooms, lava- tories and kitchens. The remainder of this floor will be occupied by a drying area on the flat roof. It is intended that the main rooms on this floor will be used communally by the housemen.
The second, third and fourth floors will be occupied entirely by the house officers' quarters. The layout of these three floors will be similar, each containing nine bedrooms, a store for trunks and suitcases, a room for washing and ironing, bath- rooms and lavatories, All of the bedrooms will have verandahs and each will be fitted with a wash-basin and a built-in wardrobe.
