A stronghold type police station is being built one and a half miles from the frontier. The site is near to Sha Tau Kok Village on the south side of a small hill, where the pre-war station formerly stood. Owing to its proximity to the border, security was one of the dominant influences in the design. For this reason, there is only one entrance to the building, window sills facing the border are 6'0" above the floor level, there are no outside windows to the staircases, and the compound is completely surrounded by double fencing.
