erection of the latticed-steel masts are now nearing completion. Installation of the main data-logger is now under way, but recording of wind effects is already being done. Fig. 3 shows the experimental building and masts when under construction.

The capital cost of the project is over HK$2 million. This has been

provided by the Hong Kong Govern- ment; Nuffield Foundation; British Iron and Steel Federation; Ministry of Overseas Development of H.M. Gov- ernment; and the University of Hong Kong; who jointly sponsored the investigation.

Many companies have given material help during construction of the pro- ject. These include: Cable & Wireless Ltd.; Gammon (H.K.) Ltd.; Intrusion- Prepakt (Far East) Ltd.; Dodwell & Co. Ltd.; Crittal-Hope Export Ltd.; Pilkington Bros. Ltd.; Steel Structures Ltd.; Jardine Engineering Corp. Ltd.; Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd.; Gilman & Co. Ltd.; American Engineering Corp. Ltd.; Innis & Riddle (China) Ltd.; British Insulated Callender's Ca- bles Ltd.; and Harvey Main & Co. Ltd.

The project uses anemometers and pressure cells developed by the Elec- trical Research Association of Great Britain and the UK Building Research Station.
