Developers' Singapore

THE Singapore Government, acting through the agency of the Housing and Development Board, is now offering a further 14 sites to private developers under its urban renewal programme.

As with the first 14 sites, for which the Board invited public tenders in the summer of 1967, many special con- cessions are made to prospective de- velopers. These include: a down pay- ment of 20 per cent. (inclusive of the 5 per cent. deposit on tender) on signing of the building agreement, with the balance of 80 per cent of the tendered premium spread over 10 years without interest; property tax assessed at the rate of 12 per cent for a period of 20 years, and exemption from prop-

erty tax payment for a period of six
