The original plans for the apartment block were therefore scrapped and the architect was instructed to draw up sketch plans for a hotel which would utilize all the advantages of the site and from which costs could be worked out and the proposition fully studied. The scheme, as drawn up by Mr. Walters, is illustrated in this article.
The site is situated about 200 ft. above sea level in a new and exclusive district overlooking North Point, the Harbour, and Kowloon beyond. The designing and orientation of the build- ing is such as to provide a magni- ficent view of this panorama from the maximum number of rooms, and par-
