over the sill installation is often the easiest, and is so far the most common method. But it has the disadvantage of obscuring part of the windows. That is why an increasing number of installations in existing buildings is now being made by cutting holes through the walls, usually at the windows, either just below the sills or near the floor line.
In new structures the accepted method is to leave suitable holes in the walls, at time of construction.
