In the year 1926, the Baptist Church design yet unmistakably ecclesiastical first established a Chapel which was in appearance. It will be a rather situated at 30 Jordan Road, Kowloon. long and narrow structure about 140 In those first years the congregation was very small indeed, but a gradual- ly increasing membership and the expansion of the Church organisation soon required larger premises. In 1928, the Chapel was moved to the first floor of 552 Nathan Road, but it was not long before the need for further expansion was felt and the necessity for their own Church build- ing became apparent.
The efforts of the congregation re- sulted in such a Church being built in 1939 at 38/40 Hillwood Road, when the designation, the Tsim Sha Tsui Baptist Church, was first applied.
Within a period of a little over 15 years, the membership had grown to well over 1,000 and this extremely gratifying progress urgently called for further expansion of the Church premises. Since it was impossible to enlarge the existing building, a site comprising 7,500 sq. ft. of land on Cameron Road was purchased for the construction of the new building.
This proposed new building, which has been designed by Messrs. Palmer & Turner, will be a most imposing structure for its size.
