HOIST EQUIPMENT
A high speed passenger/materials hoist installation, complete with ground level radio control, is one application for a new range of modular hoist equipment for the building in- dustry.
Offering safe and continuous eleva- tion of personnel or materials over a wide range of lifting capacities – 8 to 20 people or 1,300 to 3,360 lb. (590 to 1,530 Kg.) the new Modular 70 system includes other interchangeable combinations such as a high speed concrete elevating plant or a large all-materials platform hoist.
A substantial improvement in the level of utilization of hoist equipment is claimed to be one of the main achievements of the system. Fast on- site erection of the equipment is a
All the components are in accor- dance with metric standards and the capacities of cages and platforms are designed to accept metric standard building components.

PUMP
Capable of reaching a total capa- city of 7,000 g.p.h., the self-priming FB 2-in water pump has a total head of 90 ft. and a suction lift of 25 ft. It
capacities of 4 and 9 pt. respectively, and a common output of 4.75 hr. per gal. Weighing 85 lb. the petrol version measures 1 ft. 4 in. wide by 1 ft. 8 in. long by 1 ft. 4 in. high, while the diesel version (FB.2D) weighs 185 lb. and measures 1 ft. 5 in. wide by 2 ft. 1 in. long by 1 ft. 6 in. high.

PORTO-SCREED
Ideal for striking off all types of concrete slabs such as floors, patios, sidewalks, bridge decks and sections of streets, the new model PS porto-screed has an adjustable amplitude feature and vibrates at a rate of 4,300 vibra- tions per minute.
This vibration is transmitted to the beam and in turn to the concrete causing the fins to rise so that just one man can guide it and strike off the slab of stiff mixes quickly and smoothly.
By using the adjustable amplitude the strength of vibration can be dialed at any position from "high to low" by turning the eccentric on its axis and locking it in place.
The frame of the screed is designed to clamp quickly to two 2 x 4 or 2 x 6
ACE modular hoist
main design feature while, being modular, tower masts may be extend- ed into basement areas as well as in the upwards direction.
The very high degree of flexibility offered includes the re-arrangement of the system's component parts to form an installation suitable as a passenger/ materials hoist unit within the lift shaft areas of industrial type buildings, or as a heavy duty hoist unit placed inside subterranean shafts during tun- nel driving operations.

FB-2 self-priming pump
can handle solids up to 3/8-in. in diameter and, with a nozzle fitted on its discharge hose, throw water a dis- tance of 100 ft.
Features of the FB.2 include a one-piece, cast-aluminium-alloy pump body and a four-vane impeller which, together with the internal streamlining of the casting, helps to ensure a minimum wall friction and a maxi- mum water velocity. Mounted directly on the taper end of the crankshaft, the impeller remains set in perfect align ment.
The suction flange is bolted to the main body to facilitate maintenance, the flap valve is set at a 23-deg. angle to compensate for the tilt of the pump, and the pump itself is close- coupled to its prime mover to elimi- nate the necessity of an intermediate bearing. The pump is mounted inside a protective metal frame.
Power sources for the pump can be either a Villiers F.15 petrol or a Petter AA1 diesel engine, with fuel-tank

beams. With two beams it is like making two passes at once; the first beam strikes off the concrete and the second beam gives the concrete the final finish. Screeds up to 32 ft. long have been made using two screeds mounted on the same beams. The unit is powered by a 3 h.p. Briggs and Stratton engine or a 1 h.p. electric
motor.
