The connotation of eating humble- pie, which some would see as being a prerequisite to such co-operation should be dispelled at the outset if ap- preciation of the significance of "com- prehensive" is to be accepted and em- braced by all who seek to strive in the interest of the public.

The search for that utopian crea- ture who is the perfect and all-encom- passing planner must be given up. The "perfect", or as near as possible per- fect, approach to the area of planning should be created through an admix- ture of the many talents that we possess to varying degrees.

To make planning more acceptable and effective, the public must be fully informed. The interest, understanding and sympathy of the public in general, must be enlisted particularly that sec- tion of private enterprise the banks, insurance companies, industrialists and developers.

There must be proper co-opera- tion and co-ordi- nation between public and private enterprise; old- fashioned an- tagonisms be- tween authority and business are obstructive to all good develop-
