Dynamic form of the lift shaft to the rank and file married quarters
where the spaces are simply areas left
over.
One aspect of design quality bene- fiting residents is the use of views to and from the project site, and in this scheme distant views are possible from all quarters at all levels. This has been achieved by the careful sit- ing of the buildings and use of the terracing on the sloping ground. At the same time, however, enclosed en- vironments of intimacy and privacy have been created at ground level around the buildings.

The site has benefited by the diver- sity of building types
such as barracks, classrooms, gymnasium, ad- ministration. mess and quarters, etc.. which greatly contrast with the re- petition of identical buildings which are usually seen in Hong Kong hous- ing schemes and very often result in dreary monotony.
The opportunity to express the in- dividual buildings which are differ- ent in function has been fully exploit- ed, while on the other hand the unity of the whole scheme has been main- tained by the strong emphasis of the horizontal elevational treatment and the use of reinforced concrete louvres for sunshade.
