PLANT

Holman SV 40 rock drill

The SV 40 will drill granite at 12 in a minute at an air pressure of 80 p.s.i. when fitted with a 1 in. dia- meter cross bit. At this speed it uses 78 cu. ft. of air a minute, with an operating frequency of 2,375 blows a minute. Alternative chuck sizes will take collared steels in sizes 3 in by

LOADER

Weight Carried over Driving Wheels

HIGH output rates can be achieved with the new Commando front wheel drive loader which works well in muddy conditions as most of the loading weight is carried over the driving wheels to give better trac- tion.

The makers are Chamberlain In- dustries Pty., Ltd., Welshpool Road. Welshpool, Australia.

Powered by a Perkins 4/270D die- sel, the machine has a breakout force at the tip of the bucket of 6,800 lb. The 1 cu. yd. bucket can be lift- ed to a dumping height of 8 ft. 5in. in 5.1 seconds. Dumping clearance from the front tyre is 3 ft. 3in. and the maximum height over which the bucket can be discharged is 10ft. 4in.

Lift arms and bucket action are controlled by in. diameter hydrau- lic cylinders. Tip back of bucket at ground level is 30 degrees.
