The 24ft. road will run from Lion Rock Tunnel Road across an unused airstrip, then along a new bund to be constructed in the sea round the existing Shatin market area, joining Taipo Road north of Shatin.

Engineering Works include formation of about 3,700 ft. of bund by reclamation, surfacing of about 4,800 ft. of carriage- way, and two parks for about 1,360 cars.

will provide about 100 acres of formed land, with roads and services for commercial and private de- velopment for 10,000 new residents.

An area of 21 acres has been set aside for an- other 20,000 in Government housing, along with schools and other services. And an industrial area of about ten acres will be formed on private land to be resumed at Fo Tan, about half a mile north of Shatin.

DISUSED AIRSTRIP

The British architectural firm of Robert Mat- thew, Johnson-Marshall & Partners presented the final building plan for the new 400-acre campus of the Asian Institute of Technology at a recent meet- ing of the institute's board of trustees.

The new Rangsit campus in Bangkok is to be built over a period of ten years at an estimated capital cost of US$19 million. Construction is ex- pected to start later this month.

Terraced building for Golden Mile

Piling work should be completed this month for a start to be made on the construction of the first of three stages of an S$18 million development project at Golden Mile, Singapore.

The project, being undertaken by Singapore Developments, is the first shopping and commer- cial complex to be built in this most valuable of the city's urban renewal areas. The first stage com- prises a 15-storey building housing shops on vari- ous levels, offices, an entertainment deck, luxury flats and penthouses.

Extending for 400 ft. between Beach Road and Nicol Highway, the block will have circulation towers at each end and will be stepped back in ter- races from the ground floor, giving a pyramidal ef- fect. Panoramic views of the seafront and sur- rounding Southern islands will be provided from its main frontage.

Another shopping complex under construction on a Singapore urban renewal site will devote five of its 15 floors to car parking.

Supreme House, being built on an 80,000 sq.ft. site at Penang Road, is due for completion at the

10,500 flats in new Housing Authority estates

The Hong Kong Housing Authority's ninth and tenth estates – Ping Shek and Oi Man, Kowloon will add 10,500 flats to the 27,300 already built by the Authority over the past ten years.
