As a Government-subsidised school 80 per cent. it follows generally the Schedule of Accommodation for a 24-classroom school and the standards set down by Government. However, non-school additions such as private quarters for six sisters and a lift were also included.
The site, measuring just over 50,000 sq. ft. was granted by Govern- ment and lies in the developing area of Tsz Wan Shan at the junction of Tsz Wan Shan Road and Yuk Wah Street. Of recent formation, it consists of earth fill varying from 40 ft. to 60 ft. deep. It was therefore necessary to pile for the foundations.
The criteria considered in planning included the most economical use of space so as to leave a maximum of open space; the orientation of the various blocks in order to provide the best natural lighting and ventilation for the maximum number of rooms; and to provide a sense of privacy for the school as a whole.
As a result, one wing of the school block comprising 24 general class- rooms, library, art room and sisters' quarters is placed alongside the north boundary. The other wing comprising
