CONCRETE BREAKER

Excavator - Mounted Unit

from Japan

LATEST pneumatic tool introduced by Nippon Pneumatic Manufactur- ing Co., Ltd., Japan, is the IPH-400 concrete breaker. It is designed to be mounted on an excavator boom in place of the bucket and is claimed to have many times the capacity of an 80 lb. hand breaker.

The tool is suitable for breaking rock or for general demolition work and can also be adapted for use as a pile driver. It employs a square cylinder which gives a powerful and steady action.

The breaker is 53 in. long by 8 in. square and weighs 770 lb. Con-

IPH 400 on rock breaking suming 212 c.f.m. of air at 71 p.s.i., it is fed by a lin. diameter supply hose, and delivers 320 blows per minute.

Sole export agents for Nippon are Yamazen Co., Ltd., P.O. Box 96 Nishi, Osaka, Japan.

CRANES

Separate Motors for Each Movement

A RANGE of diesel electric mobile cranes with lifting capacities from 3 to 12 tons is being manufactured by the Dutch Company, Nellen's Machinefabriek, 20-34 Sluisjesdijk, Rotterdam.

Throughout the range the internal combustion engine serves solely as the motive power for a specially wound DC generator. This genera- tor supplies the energy for all crane movements to reversible electric motors.

All movements such as lifting, der- ricking, slewing and travelling are effected by separate electric motors, the speed of which is controlled by

Nellen crane fitted with fly jib voltage variations of the main dynamo, operated by the throttle pedal in the driver's cabin. Three motions can be operated simultane- ously, depending on the load,

Both lifting and derricking motions have easily adjustable electro-magne- tically operated multiple disc brakes, which are fitted to the electric motors. These brakes come into action automatically in the event of power faiture.

Safety devices include an automa- tic cut-out and warning lamp for when two-thirds of the tipping load has been reached, and a limit switch to prevent overhoisting and overder- ricking.

VIBRATING ROLLER Striking Force of More Than 22,400 lb.

THE Vibroll Model 66T roller is designed for granular and stabilised road pavement compaction. It weighs 3 tons and produces 7 tons of centrifugal force with an energy output of 300 tons a second.

The manufacturers are Coates and Co., Ltd., P.Q. Box 78, Springvale, Victoria, Australia.

Overall width of the roller is 6ft. and the length is 11ft. 44in., so that it can

be loaded into a standard tiptruck. A multi-cycle 19 h.p. air- cooled diesel engine, generating a frequency of 2,500 vibrations a minute, provides the power.

Controls are sim- plified by the use of an electric

solenoid operated vibrator control which can be operated from the tractor driver's seat.

With a striking force of over 22,- 400 lb., the unit has been designed ensure the maximum compact-

to

ing output in relation to its weight and size.

NON-GLOG PUMP

Maximum Output of 18,000 Imperial Gallons

SOLIDS up to 24in. diameter can be handled by the 3in. Diavac self- priming pump which will also pass fibrous material. The makers Goodenough Pumps, Ltd., 112 Jermyn Street, London, S.W.1.

are

The Diavac priming device en- sures that the pump operates at peak efficiency as it automatically switches cff when the priming is completed, thus preventing wasteful re-circula- tion. This is most important in a non-clog pump as the design of the impeller necessary to avoid blockage is normally of a lower efficiency than that for a clean water centrifugal pump.

The priming device operates on the differential pressure area prin-

ciple. Material

in suspension will not clog the priming device which functions completely separately from the main pumping area and enables full bore pumping to commence within a few seconds of starting with an empty suction hose. There- after the pump can operate efficient- ly and automatically without need for manual attention.

Maximum output is 18,000 Im- perial gallons per hour and maxi- mum total head 100 ft. when driven by a 12 h.p. prime mover at 1500
