RIP-PACKER
Combination Ripper and Compactor
ALL Caterpillar motor graders may be fitted with the new Ateco Rip- Packer a combination ripper and compaction-cutter-crusher announced by American Tractor Equipment Cor- poration, Oakland, California, USA.
The ripper is rear mounted and hydraulically operated for fast pene- tration in tight materials and positive depth control. A special tool beam ac- commodates up to nine shallow scari- fying shanks or five deep ripping shanks for penetrating down to depths of 19 in.
The compaction-cutter-crusher re- places the ripper shanks on the same tool beam to crush, grind and com- pact existing materials into a smooth. firm base, ready for new surfacing or traffic. The unit mounts on the rear

VIBRATORS
Low-speed Flexible Drive Gives High-frequency Vibrations
THE mechanism of the Sinex range of flexible-drive poker vibrators is a simple pendulum arrangement, giving high frequency vibration from a drive shaft rotating at the relatively low speed of 3,000 r.p.m.
The range comprises 2% in., 1% in. and 1 in. diameter models.
The 2% in. poker is 23 in. long and works at 10.000 r.p.m., and the

CRAWLER TRACTOR
New Addition to Allis-Chalmers Italian Range
Now available for world markets from its Cusano Plant at Milan. Italy, is the Allis-Chalmers HD- 11EP crawler tractor with power shift transmission.
It is powered by the Model 11000 engine, a 240 max h.p. turbocharged
com-
diesel, rated 150 h.p. at 2,050 r.p.m. in the tractor.
A single lever controls the bination power shift and single stage torque con- verter. There are two speed ranges
(top speed 6.3 mph) and reverse (up to 5.3 mph).
The undercarriage features positive seal track rollers with a combination of roller bearings and grease seals to keep factory lubrication for life. Power steering clutches and brakes are oil-cooled and double-wrapped brakes give positive braking with little effort.
Structural features include an all- welded main frame, a one-piece com- bination final drive and steering clutch housing for better alignment. and a track release "safety valve" spring. Weight of the bare tractor is 10,455 kg (23,000 lb). Maximum drawbar pulls are 26.545 kg (58,400 lb.) forward and 22.773 kg (50,100 lb.) reverse.

DIGGER-LOADER
High Performance and Easy Operation
A NEW digger-loader has been an- nounced by Massey-Ferguson (Ex- port) Ltd., Coventry, UK.
Based on matching power units, the MF 3303 and 3305 tractors, it com- prises the MF 252 digger and 250 loader, and offers high performance with ease of operation.
Innovations include hydraulic clamping for the hydra-slide offsetting feature in an infinitely variable num- ber of positions across the mounting frame. self-levelling bucket linkage on the loader, and a tip-over tractor seat which repositions itself at the most convenient height for operation of the digger. The power units of 58.3 h.p. have been developed from the MF 3165 R & S tractors, which they replace in the company's range.
The 3303 is a conventional trans- mission model with dual clutch and six forward and two reverse speeds. The 3305 tractor has reverse trans- mission with torque converter for high-output in continuous loading operations which demand fast cycle times.
Lift capacity of the 250 loader is 3,000 lb. to full height. A compre- hensive range of buckets, with capaci- ties from % cu. yd. to 11⁄2 cu. yd.
