A LOW cost air cooled petrol- engine driven welder, the Buzz-Boy. has been announced by Hobart Bros. Co.. Troy, Ohio, USA. It is a 55 lb. unit which can be carried anywhere for use by construction and mainten- ance welding operators.
Model G-170 is an a.c./d.c. unit with a welding range of 40 to 160 A d.c. or 40 to 170 A a.c. The welder is rated 50 per cent duty cycle at 170 A. 20 to 30 V. Open circuit voltage is 70 V. It welds both heavy and light gauge metals with a.c. and d.c. type electrodes in 1/16 in. to 5/32 in. diameters.

Square Tube Model Handled by One Man
THE Rampactor 50. a square-tube. portable impact compactor, weighs 145 lb. and may be easily handled by one man. It is said to need little maintenance as engine and drive are isolated from any solid metal-to-metal impact during operation.
Powered by a 21⁄2 h.p. Sachs 75 two-stroke engine, the unit delivers a ram-action blow of 400 lb. per ft.. 360 times a minute when running at 3.000 r.p.m., and 540 times a minute at 4,500 r.p.m. A choice of tamping shoes allows concentration of the blow on an area varying from 67 sq. in. to 173 sq. in.

The SL800A is powered by a Ford Super Major 5000 four cylinder diese! engine, which develops 71 h.p. at
2,300 r.p.m.
It utilises a 1-1/3 cu. yd. bucket to handle payloads of up to 4.000 lb.
Overall dimensions of the machine are 6 ft. 8 in. wide by 6 ft. 111⁄2 in. high by 16 ft. in. long, with a bucket load-over height and dumping clearance of 12 ft. 4 in. und 10 ft. 4 in. respectively.
