PAINT BRUSH

Pressurised Containers Are Carried by Painter

A SIMPLE and ingenious solution to painting on ladders, scaffolding, and on other intricate structures is offered by the Paint-O-Matic, a brush fed with paint from a pressurised con- tainer slung on the painter's hip, Designed primarily for use on struc- tural steelwork. it allows him freedom of movement and leaves him one hand free.

The equipment, which weighs 3 lb. 14 oz. empty, consists of two light- weight plastic containers, measuring 12 in. high by 9 in. wide by 44 in. deep, on a shoulder sling. A brush holder increases the depth to 71⁄2 in. Each container holds a maximum of 1 gal.. and is pressurised by a small hand pump which forces the paint through a length of narrow plastic

tubing to the brush handle. The hol- low handle carries trigger for prim- ing the brush, eliminating dripping and draining. Brushes are of nylon. and are supplied in 1, 11⁄2, 2 and 21⁄2 in. sizes.

The tile is a 24 in. square of 1⁄2 in. foil-backed plasterboard, having be- velled face edges and covered on the face and edges with a heavy gauge rigid p.v.c. film.

The vapour barrier formed by the p.v.c. and aluminium foil is said to prevent moisture absorption, so that the tile can be used in humid condi- tions. The p.v.c. is easily kept clean by wiping with a damp cloth. The tile weighs 24 lb. p.s.f. and is avail- able in five colours and white.

Three alternative fixing methods can be employed. Timber battens of a minimum 2 in. width are spaced at 2 ft. centres, and the tiles attached by countersunk wood screws: Varifix channels are screwed to the ceiling at 2 ft. centres, and the tiles attached to them by Paraclip nylon inserts: or (in a suspended ceiling) the tiles are supported by a Variclip or similar metal fixing system using tee-sections and Gyproc secret-fixing clips.

British Gypsum Ltd., 15-17 Mary- lebone Road, London, N.W.1, are the makers. Agents are: Welmore Trading Co.. Hong Kong: and Hecla, Singapore.
