VENTILATOR

Developed especially for ventilating internal rooms, the Mistral centrifugal extractor unit can be either wall or ceiling mounted. It has a pressed steel base and is housed in a hard white plastic cover measuring 81⁄21⁄2 in. x 5 5/8in. x 6 7/8 in. high (217 x 144 x 176 mm).

Air intake grilles are moulded at each end of the unit and, where requir ed, a 21⁄2 in. spigot for secondary extrac- tion is fitted to the base plate. Dis- charge is through a 4in. spigot on the

base plate, which is coupled to a stan- dard 4in. asbestos or plastic soil pipe fed to an outside wall or ducting shaft. The motor is a 240 V, 50 Hzs, 25 W

unit.

An electronic timer can be fitted to give over-run periods of up to 30 minutes after switching off.

BUILDING BOARD

A new prefabricated material called Silite Board is said to be as strong as wood, yet only one-eighth its weight. It also has a low combustion rate and is impervious to acids and solvents.

The board is made of Poly Carbon Phosphate, a substance formed from reaction then takes place, producing its own exo-therm (self-heat). Between one and two hours later (depending on the required density) the process is complete and the finished board is lifted from the mould.

Looked at edge-on, it has the appearance of foam in the centre, with an outer skin about one eighth of an inch thick. The weight of the board is between 7 lb. and 9 lb. per cu.ft.

These are mixed into a honey-like liquid and poured into a steel cavity mould. A chemical by glued, interlocking joints and then mechanically locked by inserted steel rods. They can be made to any size, density or thickness and may be used for exterior walls or interior partitions. The makers are Silite Products Pty. Ltd., Cnr. COUNTING

English Numbering Machines Ltd., Queensway, Enfield, Middx., UK, are producing a multiple hand tally, the Series 488, designed for taking traffic counts, store inventories, catering

micro organisms in any form. It has been developed for use in hospitals and other places where sterile condi- tions are important.

The screed, Reebolay, which can be applied to any surface that requires levelling, has high adhesive properties and eliminates the need for a tradi- tional sand/cement finish for concrete floors.

Only one operation is needed to form a level surface. The dry-mix pack containing selected cements, graded aggregates and synthetic resins is simply mixed with water. When flow- applied to rough concrete, it forms a film up to 1/8 inch (3,175 mm) thick. Tiles may be laid on this film within 24 hours instead of the normal two months needed for a conventional floor screed.

Fosmac Export Ltd., Cleveland Road, Hemel Hempstead, Herts., UK. are the makers.

TRANSFORMER

Designed to run off a household power main, the Series 100 welding transformer is fitted for switched out- puts of 60, 75, 90 and 100 amps mak-
