directions. The design approach is approach is based on ACI 318-63 Building Code Requirements, Sections 1405 to 1407. Steel percentages conform to CP114 (0.8% to 4%).

18. Concrete column – ultimate strength

Program will design or investigate reinforced concrete columns by the ultimate strength theory. The program will determine the minimum amount of reinforcement and the reinforce- ment pattern for round, spiral or tied columns subject to an axial load com- bined with uniaxial or biaxial bending. Computation of ultimate strength is based on the satisfaction of the appli- cable condition of equilibrium and compatibility of strains. Design con- forms with the general requirements of the ACI Building Code (ACI 318-63). Flexible input parameters allows the engineer to set his own criteria.

19. Combined or rectangular footing design

Program designs a rectangular rein- forced concrete footing supporting two columns spaced a specified dis- tance apart or a rectangular single column footing. Designer input in cludes the soil bearing capacity, con-

crete strength, steel stress, modular ratio N, surcharge (can be zero), dowel diameter, left column load, rigid column load, and one of four design- sizing controls to locate footing or control footing size. Punching shear diagonal tension, top and bottom steel design included. Working strength design, 1963 ACI Code.

20. Optimum size, eccentricity of rectangular

This program treats concrete and soil as an homogenous block subject to any number of load cases. For a given width and zero eccentricity the length of footing to satisfy breaking pressure and F of S is found. Eccy. is then incremented until min. length is reached. The width may then be incre- mented. At optimum eccy. output for each load case includes min. length, location and result. Soil thrust, brg. P at toe and heel, F of S about toe and

in accordance with ACI 318-63 are used. The program contains a file with the properties of 19 standard pile caps.

22. Lateral load on caissons and piles

This program analyzes a caisson or pile subjected to a lateral load or moment. The pile may be of any mate- rial, any size, and of any cross section. The top of the pile may be fixed or free. The soil may be uniform or layer. ed in any manner. A maximum of 50 layers may be used. The output gives earth pressure, earth load, shear, moment slope and deflection at vari- ous points along the pile.

24. Engineering management information

Program serves as first step in auto- mated record keeping and labour cost control for consulting engineering firms. Directly from employee daily time card information. Complete pro- ject and employee records are com- piled and made immediately available on request for management control of activities and cost, including much in- formation that could not feasibly be collected and assembled by hand re- cord keeping.

Available reports include daily time and work distribution reports, payroll registers, monthly project reports, project costs to date, single project costs to date, and listings of project and/or personnel files, including vaca- tion and personal time records. Numerous accuracy and validity checks on initial data, with deviations from predesignated procedure.

25. Analysis of helicoidal girders

This is a general purpose program for the solution of fixed ended helicoi- dal girders. The loading may be uni- form or variable. The sectional pro- perty may be uniform or variable.

This program analyses groups of concrete test results in order to obtain an unbiased estimate of the polulation
