Plan Variations

Although the basic floor plan of a standard small family unit has been calculated to a minimum three-mem- ber family, other plan variations can be made by re-arrangement of par- titions or walls to make the living unit spaces ample for families of five to nine members, though this may entail using double-decked bunks for children.

To provide adequate light and ventilation, as well as privacy and security, wood jalousie windows and louvred door sashes are fitted.

The structure is of reinforced con- crete with hollow concrete and cera- mic blocks for exterior and interior walls respectively. The whole build- ing rests on concrete piles and is engineered and designed structurally to resist seismic stresses.

Designer

Architectural design, structural engineering and construction super- vision was undertaken by the Divi- sion of Architecture of the Bureau of Public Works. under consulting architect, Federico S. Ilustre.

United Construction Company, Manila, are the main contractors.

The cost of the building is estimat- ed at P6,000,000. It will be ready for occupation by the end of this month.
