SANITARYWARE

Designed to Resist Damage by Vandals

FOR public toilets and washrooms, Twyfords are producing a range of sanitaryware which, because of its protective installation and foolproof fittings is not vulnerable to damage by vandals.

Waste outlets are taken through the wall, with service pipes, cisterns and flush pipes installed behind the wall. The one exception is the 577/1 wall-mounted w.c. in glazed fireclay with high-level cistern; here, cistern, flush pipe and trigger-operated flush mechanism are encased in protective sheet steel coverings.

The 919 6 washbasin has foot- operated valve control for cold water supply, while the 34001/6 basin is equipped with self-closing hot and cold taps. Each of these basins is in glazed fireclay. An alternative type of wash basin in vitreous china is fitted with a single spray tap for mixed hot and cold water, and each of the three basins has lift-up waste fittings with 14 in. outlet taken straight through the wall.

Similar care has been exercised to ensure that the urinals in the range are also devoid of visible fittings and pipework. Supply pipes and waste outlets through the wall in each case, mean that spreaders and domed grids are the only visible metal fittings. In the 168 urinal, even the spreaders are

VENTILATOR

High Capacity Unit with Two Fans

SUPERVENTS are marketing a new dual-power exhaust ventilating unit, model DPE, which is said to be a new concept in roof mounting exhaust ventilators. Twin fans provide double the exhaust capacity of a convention- al single fan unit of comparable size.

The unit, available in two standard sizes, 48 x 54 x 241⁄2 in. high and 58 x 70 x 32 in. high, is suitable for fix-

Exhaust capacities ranging from 3,000 to 11,000 cu. ft. per minute are provided by a series of non-synchron- ous fan speeds so that performance can be matched to suit individual ap- plications or adjusted if a change of use of the ventilated space occurs.

TELEPHONE Loudspeaker Attachment Leaves Hands Free

A DESK telephone set with a sep- arate loudspeaker enables the user to carry on a normal two-way con-

versation without having to use his hands to hold the receiver.

The loudspeaker unit, fitted with a manual volume control for received speech, is housed in a two-tone grey plastic casting, measuring 7 in. wide by 3 in, deep, that can be installed on a desk or table. It is connected by a short length of cable to a conven- tionally-styled instrument, the handset of which contains an exceptionally sensitive microphone, claimed to de- tect conversations clearly at a dis- tance of several feet while still in place.

To answer a call, a button on the telephone is depressed to switch on the loudspeaker and initiate speech: it can be terminated by pressing the button a second time. The handset,

Calls are made, without lifting the handset, by pressing the button be- fore dialling. The unit can be sup- plied either as part of a new installa- tion, or adapted to one already in existence.

PLAN STORAGE

Each Hanger in Carrier Rack Holds Up to 40 Drawings

THE latest Planman storage system for working drawings comes in both trolley- and wall-mounted versions. Both types utilise a number of Grip- fast hangers, each capable of holding up to 40 drawings,

Claimed to be durable enough to withstand rough usage under all

the working conditions,

Gripfast hanger consists of two parallel hard- wood rails held together by means of two metal clamps. Loosening the clamps allows the rails to be parted and drawings to be inserted or re- moved; tightening them locks the rails together again. holding the drawings securely.

A feature of the system is the fact that drawings can be stored in it without any edge reinforcement or special preparation. Sheets of any

width up to 331⁄2 in. can be accom- modated.

Both the wall-mounned and trolley versions of the storage system have black tubular steel frames, polished hardwood side panels and loose pro- tective covers. The wall model holds up to eight hangers and projects 111⁄2 in. The trolley version, which moves on four nylon ball castors, holds up
