Section of the public gallery
measures 120 ft. long and 13 ft. 6 in. high and there is not a single tran- some or mullion to obstruct the view of the track. It is believed that this is the first time that such glass has been used in any building in Malaysia.
Nearly half the building is air-con- ditioned. There is a fully air-condi- tioned restaurant of 300 seating capacity and a separate bar adjacent to it. There are also bars on every floor at the owners and trainers gallery on the first floor, the ordinary members' box on the second floor, the public galleries, and a tea room on the third floor which is attached with a service lift connected down to the kitchen on the first floor.
The punters are well provided with betting "windows" and they have not far to go to place their bets. The betting counters on the first and second floors where the concentration of the punters is the greatest are distributed to serve the two wings of the building.
Most of these counters are placed in such a position so as to enable the punters to have a clear view of the happenings at the parading ring and the race track, and of course, the tote indicator-board where the latest odds are quoted.
Another interesting feature is the private stair and passages connecting the various tote-selling counters and offices to the central tote machine room in the basement of the existing grandstand. This "route" enables the tote staff in the basement to com- municate and to transport the large sum of money swiftly and safely from one part of the building to another.
