21R ripper in pivot setting mum penetration of 33in. Changing the shank depth alters the tooth angle for better penetration.

The ripper hydraulic system has two 7in. bore rams, powerful enough to sink the 5 ton ripper into the ground 33 in. and hold it there against the tractor's weight of 28

tons.

COMPRESSOR

Improved Model Delivers 150 c.f.m. at 100 p.s.i.

THE Hymatic-Hydrovane 150D portable compressor. an improved version of the model 140D. has an output of 150 c.f.m. at 100 p.s.i. This represents a power increase of 10 c.f.m. on the earlier model, and is three

sufficient to operate two tools with power in reserve.

Increased performance with lower fuel costs has been achieved mainly

by revised clearances that squeeze more air for the same power absorp- tion.

The compressor is powered by a Ford 592E diesel engine, developing 52 b.h.p. at a full load speed of 2,000 r.p.m. Drive is direct, and an auto- matic control adjusts engine speed ac- cording to demand. Maintenance has been reduced to a minimum, only a routine check on the oil level being Overall dimen- normally required. sions are 9 ft. by 5 ft. wide by 4 ft. 4 in, high, and weight is 1,900 lb.

BLADE STABILIZER Higher Work Speeds for Motor Graders

A NEW attachment for motor grad- ers, the blade stabilizer, has been an- nounced by Caterpillar Overseas S.A. The stabilizer attaches behind the blade on the No. 12E and No. 14D motor grader and increases produc- tion by allowing higher speeds due to increased stability and reduced rythmic bounce,

In high speed grading, motor graders develop a bounce due to the effect of weight transfer back and forth, with the cutting edge of the blade acting as a fulcrum. The stabilizer increases the ground contact area near the cutting edge and pro- vides a dampening effect to the bounce encountered in high speed grading.

Position of the stabilizer is hydrau- lically controlled by the operator to increase or lessen its effect as needed. When not needed, the operator can elevate the stabilizer off the ground.

The stabilizer is so designed that it will not limit blade positions. Ditch cut. 90 degree bank cut and the other positions are possible with no inter- ference.

ANGLEDOZER

Blade Can Be Angled 25 deg. Left or Right

AN angledozer has been added to the Taurus range of machines made by Bristol-Saunders Sales Ltd., The Butts, Worcester, UK.

It is powered by the Perkins 3.152TA diesel engine which develops 44 b.h.p. at 2000 r.p.m. Six forward and four reverse speeds provide a wide range of speeds for maxi- mum production effort.

The blade can be an- gled 25 degrees to left or right in addition to the bulldozing position. It can also be cambered and is carefully contoured to provide rolling action. Oscillating track frames assist in keeping the blade level for fine grading work.

track shoes are fitted as standard, but for work requiring a low flotation factor, 16 in. track shoes can be fit- ted. Ancillary equipments available are rear trencher, winch, ripper and power-take-offs.

CONCRETE FINISHER Scabblers Expose Aggregate for Resurfacing

TWO pneumatic tools for scabbling large areas of concrete, Models 7CS and ICS, expose the aggregate quick- ly for resurfacing.

The 7CS. which consumes 160 c.f.m., is a heavy-duty 7-piston car- riage model for road surfaces and large factory floors. The bits, fitted with tungsten-carbide tips, are sim- ply replaced by removing a pin, and the units in which the bits are insert-

ed are also detachable, so that if, for instance, only 120 c.f.m. is available, two units can be replaced by blanks.

The carriage is made of mild-steel tubing with tubular handles (one with twist-throttle control). Oil is held in the top cross-bar between the handles from which it flows to the bushing.

The wheels adjust up and down to give controlled aggregate exposure. They rise clear of the ground when the machine is in use.

John MacDonald & Co. (Pneuma- tic Tools) Ltd.. Peel Park Place, East Kilbride. Lanarks, UK. are the makers. They are not represented in S.E. Asia.
