Site investigations for N.T. development

Site investigations will soon be carried out in Tsuen Wan-Kwai Chung new town and the north- ern part of Kowloon to prepare for staged develop- ment schemes. They aim at ensuring a continuing supply of land for residential and industrial use.

In Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung, some 34 acres of formed land will be available for disposal over the next three years, most in areas already planned for industrial development. The main localities still to be developed in the new town are to the north of Castle Peak Road. It is proposed to investigate them so that engineering, planning, lands and other problems can be considered and a scheme for staged development prepared. The investigation will also take into account the need to provide filling for the completion of reclamation works.

Feasibility studies will also be carried out in three areas in North Kowloon for planning of fur- ther site development schemes. The areas thought
