formwork, and therefore the concrete surface, was not damaged. To ensure uniform colouring and finish, the in- gredients and mix of concrete were carefully controlled.

In designing the services a main concern was to reduce to a minimum the unsightly presence of piping, wiring and controls. With the approval of the utility companies, risers and main controls were compacted inside

two small all-purpose ducts, so design- ed that each company has ready access to its own services.

Costs

The building took 24 months to complete, or just under a month for each floor (floor area each floor (floor area

8,870 sq.ft.). Total cost of the building, com- plete with external work and access road, was just over HK$4,100,000.
