Flooring is generally of cement rendering and in public areas a coarse textured mix is used for the main circu- lation space. Kitchens, balconies and toilets have mosaic tile flooring.

Wall finishes are cement paint for the living rooms, and coloured poly- urethane coating for the kitchens and toilets, providing good unbroken and unjointed surfaces in these rooms. Ex- ternally, the fair-faced concrete is treated with silicone water proofing solution. Recessed panels are finished off in Glamorock and all copings and drip bands are of white cement render- ing.

Generally, colour has been played down by the designers on the thesis that there is sufficient play of light and shade on the facades to provide all the interest needed. Only in the in- terior public spaces have a few patches of bright colour been introduced.

The use of fair-faced concrete en- tailed giving special consideration to the construction of the formwork and to the method of placing concrete. Formwork joints were designed to coincide with lifts of concreting so as to conceal the lines between lifts. Anchor bolts were carefully worked out to a regular pattern.

Special care was also exercised when vibrating to ensure that the
