(Member of Gammon Group of Companies) Tank Erection by Chicago Bridge (Philippines) Inc.

Site formation and tank foundation work involving the excavation of 170,000 c.y. of hillside and the reclamation of 6 acres of sea bed together with the construction of 2,240 ft. of seawall commenced in January 1965 and had advanced sufficiently by May 1965 for tank erection to commerce. Final completion including all foundation, drainage and bund works was achieved in February 1966.

The tanker berth was constructed for vessels of 65,000 tons displacement the largest berth of its kind in Hong Kong. The facility includes also duplicate berths for 1,500 tons local service tankers and fendering for barges and lighters. Construction commenced in August 1965 and the first tanker to discharge its cargo at Nga Ying Chau was berthed 4 months later in mid-December 1965.
