New station site
Late last month it was announced that the Hong Kong Government had agreed in principle to grant a site on Ap Lei Chau Island to the Hong Kong Electric Co., Ltd. for the build- ing of a new power station to facili- tate the company's expansion plans.
The site, covering about 540,000 sq. ft. at the western tip of the island. is to be granted to the company in exchange for an area of about 82,000
sq. ft. adjacent to the company's
North Point power station in Electric Road.
This area in Electric Road is re- quired by Government in the future in connection with proposals for a second desalination plant. These pro- posals are at present under con- sideration.
