A new tunnelling method for supporting unstable ground which has been developed and experi- mented with for the last two and a half years, is now being used success- fully in London.
Distance between the frames, lengths and penetration of slats, can be adjusted in accordance to ground conditions and can be wholly or partly recoverable; also, they can be suitably designed and left in as part of the reinforced structure. All units can be manufactured and supplied to required size and shape.
Main feature of this me- thod is that it holds the ground at and ahead of face as excavation pro- ceeds.
