HOUSE

Two large canopies of unusual design, in hyperbolic paraboloids sup- ported by two columns and tied to the second floor spandrel beams, form the focal point of the building as well as protecting pedestrians during inclement weather. Of reinforced concrete, the canopies are 3in. thick.

The new building contains split level shops at ground floor. At the lower level the shops are located in the basement, with storage spaces provided. Above the shops are 13

toreys of offices.

Zetland Street, off the main road, ponveniently provides entrance for the offices and thus permits all the shops to face the main road. A lane at the rear of the site offers service entry.

Sun Hoods

The form of the canopy gives an lement of interest and attraction, and the split level planning of the lower and upper ground floor in relation to the street level not only Creates the maximum usable ground Moor space but provides an uninter- rupted view of the lower and upper

round floors.

Office space on the upper floors is planned for flexibility in use, so that
