One Executive Officer, one Confidential Assistant, one Clerk and one Office Attendant were transferred from the Quartering Office during the year following the closure of that department. Two new posts of Senior Rating and Valuation Surveyor are needed to provide more supervision and to ensure a better devolution of responsibility. The additional ten Valuation Assistants are required to meet continuing expan- sion of rating and valuation work, while the provision for six additional Clerks, four Clerical Assistants and one Office Attendant is necessary to deal with the mounting clerical work associated with this expansion,
There are slight increases under Other Charges Annually Recurrent following expansion in staff, functions and activities.
Under Special Expenditure funds have been included for a private automatic branch telephone exchange suitable for inter-office communication, and which initially will also reduce the number of direct lines from fifteen to five.
