Headquarters

The additional post of Deputy Director has been created to assist the Director in the general administration of the department and to co-ordinate the work of the Building and Land branches. The remaining posts are to assist in the general secretarial and clerical work.

Architectural Office

22 of the increased figure of 94 are posts either provided for under special warrant during the year 1958/59 or transferred from Works Votes to the pensionable establishment. The remaining posts now provided are to meet the increasing demands being made on this office, where it is still necessary to place much of the work out to private architects.

Buildings Ordinance Office

The additional post of Assistant Chief Building Surveyor has been created to assist the Chief Building Surveyor in the general administration of the Office whilst the additional secretarial and clerical staff is required to cope with the extra typing and maintaining of records. The remaining additional posts are accounted for by inter-departmental transfers and the formation of a small leave reserve.

Crown Lands and Surveys Office

Most of the new posts are accounted for by inter-departmental transfers, redesignation etc.

Development Office

This is a new branch of the department and the additional staff now approved is required in order that the office may meet its normal day to day responsibilities.
