The Assistant Commissioner post has been created in order that the New Territories, Tsuen Wan and Marine Division may be separated from the Command of the present Assistant Commissioner, Kowloon and New Territories. The two posts, in future, will be known as Assistant Commissioner, Kowloon, and Assistant Commissioner, New Territories. The three Senior Superintendent posts are for the Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Traffic, and Immigration Departments. An additional six Assistant Superintendents are needed
