imports of merchandise amounted to a total of $59.7 millions (£3.7 millions), as compared with $45.7 millions (£2.8 millions) in November, 1936; a dollar increase of 30.6 per cent. and a sterling increase of 32.1 per cent.: whilst ex- ports totalled $45.2 millions (£2.8 millions) as compared with $38.4 millions (£2.4 millions): a dollar increase of 17.7 per cent. and a sterling increase of 16.7 per cent.

Total imports during the first eleven months of the year 1937 amounted to $568.5 millions (£35.1 millions), as compared with $407.7 millions (£25.8 millions) in the corresponding period of 1936; whilst exports amounted to $421.5 millions (£26.0 millions) as compared with $316.1 millions (£20.0 millions). ·

In terms of local currency imports increased by 39.4 per cent. in the first eleven months of 1937, as compared with the corresponding period of 1936, and exports increased by 33.3 per cent.; whilst sterling value showed increases of 36.0 per cent. In the case of imports, and 30.0 per cent. in the case of exports.
