Some 50,000 piculs in excess of the previous year's figures for raw cotton were cleared through the Customs; business in tea was satisfactory at somewhat low prices, and large quantities were shipped through the port; and considerable improvement was witnessed in the trade in wheat flour, leaf tobacco, samshu, and buntal-fibre and rush hats.
