f some importance. The harbour has from 11 to 15 fathoms of water and swell sheltered. A railway connecting it with Seremban was opened in July, 1891, nd has greatly facilitated trade. The State is now traversed by the F.M.S. railway ystem, and the road system is a subject of favourable comment by all who visit the ountry.

The revenue of the State in 1924 was $7,420,418 against $6,658,094 in 1923, and the xpenditure $5,723,383 against $5,596,840 in 1923. The balance of assets to the credit f the State amounts to $5,497,407. Imports in 1924 were valued at $7,911,647 against $7,341,893 in 1923, and exports at $24,521,104 against $23,770,542 in 1923. These figures, rowever, are no true index of the total trade of the State, as much of the merchandise produced and consumed in the State passes through Selangor.

Rubber leads in agricultural produce with a planted area of 278,040 acres. The xport of rubber was 21,743 tons in 1924, against 20,547 in 1923, and of gambier 3,744 iculs against 3,901. The total acreage of mining land was 8,486.
