CHOLON
This town, distant four miles from Saigon, with which it is connected by o electric and two steam tramways, is the seat of most of the Chinese trade of th Colony. Cholon may be said to be the granary of Cochin-China, and is the cent of much commercial activity. Most of the rice mills are located in this place, the being no fewer than 10, of which five are owned by a French society. The tow is administered by a Municipal Council, composed partly of French, partly Annamites, and partly of Chinese. The population is about 70,000. The princip buildings are the Mairie (Town Hall), the Inspection (Provincial Government), ti Maternité, and the Hôspital. There are also a fair number of gorgeous Chine pagodas in the city.
